If you choose to be a Volunteer and teach or help out at a special project village school and medical center we are currently working with a wonderful project just a few km from Angkor Wat. This is the same lovely village school project we feature for our guests to visit as a tourist. You will see some of the prettiest countryside and surely be entranced by this experience.

Today I visited the school and clinic project and was just in awe that somewhere so pretty is also still so untouched by the western world. The children in this little village are gaining a free education and the medical assistance is free too. With education these lovely children will also be able to get future jobs. They were so excited and shyly saying 'hello'!"
This is an experience that benefits and helps many. . You will be safe and assisted if you come on your own. You may also choose to come as a group of two or more people. We have other projects and schools for you if Sokhoun's school has the quota of volunteers. Also, we ask that when you leave you donate your clothes - except those you plan to wear! - as these go to help local villagers who may use or recycle them.

INCLUDED: Accommodation in locally owned motel/ashram style accommodation, who support school projects like Rural Area Kids, New Hope humanitarian NGO's or Khmer owned and supporting their villages and education. We arrange Airport pick-up,. You will have a nice room with en suite, usually a carfe or restaurant, and wi-fi, internet and cable TV included You may want to rent a bike to get to your volunteer school [this also hopes local business] or you may splash out on a tuk tuk. All visits in Cambodia are $897.

A visit specifically for Teaching and Volunteering usually requires a commitment of two to four weeks. We are very diligent and responsbile about this or we foreigners can end up teaching the wrong lessons. The issue is to assist disadvantaged youth and others earn a living. It is not about teaching people how to keep asking for money.
There can also be rorts and corruptions and we will cover things to be aware and responsible about when you arrive. There are issues such as orphanages sending children out to beg at night, or someone being helped to start a business then not doing that business and asking for money to start another business! In the past volunteer teaching work has offered a great opportunity for pedophiles. This issue is heavily monitored and those who abuse or inappropriately touch children are reported back to the governments of their own country.
Many people choose to give to help with projects either to help create a source of income for a disadvantaged local. However, this help is always monitored through us and you will be told/shown what has been achieved by your kindness and can follow it up.
If any of those you donate to help has your email address it is NOT okay for them to email you asking for money. This is not something we are involved with. Please let us know if this happens.
